About Trent
Hey everybody,I’m Trent Cherry I'm the rear tire carrier on the pit crew for Nextel Cup driver Ryan Newman's No. 12 Alltel Dodge. I’ve been at Penske Racing South for eight years now and have been working on Ryan's pit crew since his ARCA days back in 2001. Along with carrying tires on Sunday, I help out with the pit training and pit practices for all three Penske teams. When I’m not in the shop or at the track, I run my own business, Bass Vending, in Landis, NC.
Well, I could talk at you all day, but the best way to know me is to know my answers to these three questions and to read my old answers here.
Q: Why did you put on a mullet wig and dive into the pit at Winston last year (2004)?
A: I am very serious about my mullets. And fullets, that's the female mullet. So the first year when they introduced the pit crew, I had on my blond mullet wig and I just dove out onto the stage. The crowd went crazy. Then last year, the crew chief said, what are you going to do to beat that? So I put on the mullet wig again and when the time came I just dove off the stage into the crowd. They just screamed for that. Only no one was expecting it so I ended up facedown on the concrete. Then the whole crew jumped into the crowd and no one noticed that one guy had jumped on me and was beating the @#%! out of me to get my mullet wig...
Q: Who's your fiancee?
A: My girlfriend. That's the thing, I'm always calling her my girlfriend and it just drives her crazy. I'm getting married June 4. Then the very next day I'm up at 5 a.m. to set out.
Q: Why don't you drink?
A: I've gotten in more trouble than most people but I've never drank. That's the one thing my dad really felt strong about. He didn't have too many rules, about swearing or whatever, but he didn't want us to drink. So I just never have.
If you really want to know me, read my blog and my columns. Thanks for reading and writing in and I'll talk at you later.
